Thanks - super easy tie with easy to obtain materials:
Use your favorite streamer hook #2 or #4 tie in a tail the length off the hook shank (get some UV resin on your thumb and forefinger and make a “fin” at the very end of the tail and cure it with a UV light - you can see the formed fin in the closeup photo), a few wraps of the main color, and a two wraps of maroon up front, finish with a 3mm fish mask/ 3mm eye color of choice and you’re done.
That design works with coneheads too and was pretty well received during my Semperfli Pro days (I gave you the link to the cheaper bulk stuff from Hobby Lobby) - because it works!

As someone who is part of an organization that buys and stocks trout so kids can fish for them, I can attest that the cost of approved (certified not carrying diseases) is substantial. We recently paid on the order of nearly $10,000 for just about 2,000 trout in the 10-12 inch range.
We used to get a few hundred bruisers (15-18 inches) to spice it up for the kids, but those cost on the order of $10 per fish these days.
Five to eight years ago, we were paying closer to $3,000 for 2,000 trout, including a few big ones.
And it looks like costs are going up again next year.
Maryland DNR reports that the cost for everything from certified disease free eggs, to trout chow to transport from hatchery to creek are way up, which affects what the state can afford to stock.
Even the allenberry crew will struggle to pay that much.
On the bright side, stream improvement to enhance wild trout increasingly seems like a bargain.
Still, damn shame that allenberry section is no longer public. I have a lot of great memories from fishing there with my dad.
