Hey all-

Had off work Friday and decided to go up to Penns. I haven't fished up that way since May, so it was good to go back.

Flows: 240Cfs
Water Temp: Didn't get a read but felt like low 50s.
Weather: Blue bird skies
Time: 10A - 630P

I wasn't particularly hopeful of a banner day especially with the sun. Got to the spot and geared up, I decided to start out with a streamer and just prospect. I moved one fish pretty quick but no hook up. With the water being a little bit lower, the fish seemed to drop down into deeper holding water. Lots of usual places didn't produce. I made it down to a hole, and started picking up lots of hits on the nymph. I figured it was on to something, but could not get the fallfish to leave my fly alone. After sorting through what felt like a million fallfish, I caught a few browns on the nymph. Swapped back to a streamer and fished got some nice strikes and had a 16-17" brown on until I went to net him and he came off at the net.

Saw a river otter cross the creek, which was cool.

Went up stream a ways and missed a few on streamers. Lots of chases and tail biters. Nymphed the deeper spots and picked up some more browns and a bow (And of course more fallfish).

Decent day, had to work for them. Caught 7 or 8 browns, a bow, and 1 million fall fish. Not sure I'll count the one that came off at the net. No surface activity

Love catching a nice surprise of a bigger fallfish. I always end up thinking I have a big brown on when I hook one lol.

More than once, I have been on Spring Creek below Bellefonte and hooked into what I thought was a super nice brown trout. Head shakes, and the fish stays deep in a hole. Feel the weight on the end of the line. Heart skips a couple of beats, and then you finally see the "prize" fish. It is an 18-inch sucker.

They do fight

This guy was from Penns yesterday in the Weikert area. About 12". Stocked or wild? I'm terrible at determining for myself.

Stocked or Wild ?? not sure, but a beautiful catch none the less

I thought the same thing, but I know there are other organizations that stock. My guess was "wild" because the fins were in great shape. He had beautiful colors. One of the best wild brookies I've gotten in PA.
