Took a couple vintage sticks out today - a Fenwick FF856 with up-locking seat purchased on eBay for a thrifty price, coupled with a Martin built Cortland reel and a no name “I think it’s a six weight” line (I’m still not really impressed with this model reel but for $15 who cares?) - the rod performed well though felt a bit mismatched to that particular reel - it didn’t load very well and even after cleaning the line felt a bit rough - Also brought a Teton 7.5 foot 4 weight rod which I had purchased from a friend in 2018 but never fished it - until today - it is equipped with a vintage Cortland LTD 80 with a WF5F Cortland Sylk line - the Fenwick logged a couple LMB and Bluegills while the Teton scored a PB Bluegill (for this pond) on the first cast I ever threw with it - a very good day indeed - just getting out there made it so!
PS: ‘Niner Bug crushed ‘em today!
