My son and I fished the lower end of the gorge from 12-5pm yesterday.  Air temp was around 60 degrees and it was overcast, water temp was 49-50 and flows were great with the fishing release.  Small hendricksons were in the air and on the water, it wasn't a huge hatch but they were there and the fish were rising to them in the slower, deeper water.  It was tough to find fishable stretches where the risers were within reach but we managed to find a few productive spots and put three browns in the net, all on dries.  We basically had the entire river to ourselves - we saw only one small group of people fishing the entire day.

At one point a fish rose to my fly and broke off my entire rig including two dry flies and a tippet ring, probably due to a faulty knot.  10 minutes later after tying on a new rig, I somehow hooked the same fish who came to the net with both rigs attached to his lip. I even got my tippet ring back, was very nice of the fish to return it to me!  I also had my first ever double dry fly hook up but my excitement quickly turned to shame when I realized it was two chubs attached to the end of my line, lol.  My son also got a cool pic of a real hendrickson that had landed on his fly patch right next to his tied imitation.

All in all a good, fun day.  We covered a lot of ground on our bikes, ate a couple of good hoagies and drank a beer while sitting on big boulders by the water.  Plus the mighty Lehigh still scares the crap out of me so anytime I leave the gorge without having fallen into the river and with all my bones intact is a win.

Good report. I haven't fished the LR yet this year. If the CFS stays the same, I plan to hit it Friday.

Nice looking brown on your 3rd pic.

Nice report, sounds like a good day. I love when fish return gear. I used to be a saltwater fisherman and had a 15lb bluefish pull a rod off my boat into the water (I only put it down for a second and did not yet know that I was anchored above a ton of monster blues). After me and my buddy caught at least 50 of them, I caught the fish who took my rod. Still had the first hook in its mouth and I managed to pull my rod up off the bottom of the ocean and back into my boat.

There is no place anywhere near Northeast, Pa. like the Lehigh Gorge, very rugged and beautiful territory.

Great report! Releases/flows this month have been fantastic. So steady and other than a little bump in releases have been very consistent. And so has the fishing.

I could be wrong but that bug looks like has two tails - could be a Quill Gordon. Regardless nice fish!

I appreciate the correction vcregular as I wasn't positive about the bug ID

Great report! Fixing to get there soon. Have not been up this year yet, but fished the more comfortable flows for this time of the year in another big NEPA freestoner yesterday. I appreciate your final sentiment too!
