Lehigh River and surrounding area

Ive struck out a couple times on the Lehigh, I cant seem to find where Im supposed to find these thousands of stocked fish lol. I fished the gorge park and then tried to find the Walter dam stretch and Trout Routes led me to a dead end street literally on the dam lol. I am coming to the area for the weekend and plan to explore all over Hickory but some of the guys want to get some fish for tacos and I thought the Lehigh would be their best bet. Any help would be much appreciated! The Tannery area was one place I have marked.

Side note, Im about done with Trout Routes, its led me on too many wild goose chases
 
Ill spot burn ..here a bit but they are popular well known spots.

1. Tannery Bridge. Right off Rt 534. Plenty of parking. Follow the Lehigh Gorge State Park Trail up or downstream. Access to river is a steep bank.
2. 940 bridge. There is a small strip mall on west side of river. Park there or upstream about 1/4 mile at LGSP trail access near hardware store.
3. 80 Bridge. There is an access just south of I 80 East "on ramp" off 940(ramp itself is closed for construction). Follow down to LGSP trail access and parking.

Fish foam lines and soft water around and behind protruding rocks and boulders,
Successful flies now are Royal Wullf, slate drakes, sulfurs and light Cahills. I fished that area last night from 5 to 8 using RWs. Few risers but fishing key holding areas was quite successful.

Trout routes is irritating and has less useful info than the arcgis map I shared. Pa Fishing Map

The biggest benefit of troutrouts (and onx) is offline map capability, which free arcgis doesn’t offer. If you don’t need offline maps then Fishbrain is better than troutroutes, though more expensive. If you like Fishbrain definitely search for a coupon. I found one somewhere that locked in an annual price of $26 as opposed to $80/yr.

I appreciate it. I wouldn't ask for a hard earned spot but I know how popular the Lehigh is and am just looking to put some of our less dedicated guys on stockers. Thanks everyone for the replies!
 
No problem. Every hiker biker and Treker on the east coast knows about those trail/ river access points. The town of White Haven advertises a trout tournament. Its no secret spot....but it is decent fishing.
They stock some pretty hefty fish right at 80 and 940 bridges. The tournament may still be running. I think it goes on til labor day. Tagged fish are worth a prize of some sort.

Check Temps and its a white water release. Expect 700 cfs from the dam.

Did you see the Eagle? It has a huge nest on the Pocono maybe 50-100 yards from McMicheal. That's a beautiful section. It's a shame it's in town. You see a lot of garbage floating by.

So the tannery section was a muddy mess due to the bridge construction upstream.
I went up to Whitehall and that access was blocked off for the construction too. I was able to get in behind the strip mall and found a few fish and then decided the bar was a better call. All in all it was a great trip, we caught fish in 8 streams. The only skunk was Hawk Run.
It has some nice pools but no luck. We had a helluva storm Saturday night, it was awesome

Think before you start posting "stuff" not FFing related.

And don't post "stuff" to answer someone that posted "stuff" that you don't agree with and/or don't post "stuff" you agree with to add an "atta boy" making the thread even worse.

"Stuff" is "stuff"......give us a break.

Our apologies to the OP who started a legitimate FFing related thread, which ended up with a pile of "stuff".

Please remember the Mod staff is on a volunteer basis. We all do it because we love FFing and Dave Kile keeps the site going to keep/make PAFF a great resource for all the FFers that visit.

You may have noticed the volume of threads and new members has increased greatly in the last few years making it is very difficult to read every thread, post and word written. Anyway, we all have lives and it's tough to read all the threads all the time, especially when mods are on vacation and/or have to attend to health or family issues.

My suggestion is, if you find something egregious and/or against the rules of posting on the site, simply click on the "Report" button and a Mod will zoom in on that thread and post to check it out.

The one thing that everyone posting on here can do is remember this is a fly-fishing site here for the enjoyment of fly-fishing by members to share info, stories, news and events all related to our sport. If your thread or post does not contain one or more of the aforementioned subjects, think before you click.

I'll say this again, we all have lives so don't make it tough on us having to edit/delete posts and threads and referee or warn guys that should know the rules and how to behave on here. Don't make us spend time dealing with stuff like this instead of being out there on the water fishing.
