Groundhog Day 2026

The annual right of spring is just days away.
Coldest winter in Pennsylvania in quite a few years.
Snowfall is still not what it should be, but...
What will it be 6 weeks of winter*
6 weeks till spring.




*I am favoring 6 more weeks of winter.

The other Pennsylvanian right of spring is the PAF&BC releasing their spring stocking schedule.

I like the maps and the ability to link them with the unstocked troutwater downstream or upstream wild trout waters from the updated lists with maps that I've saved over the past few years. These help me locate where the bigger trout will be.

I have been placing snapshots screenshots of the maps the PAFBC use for new class A, and wild trout waters into files segregated by main streams. The Stocking and special regs are in there too. I can take the printed screen shots with me when I fish and add a few notes on the back.

Interesting process and going old school with the printed maps. I can see that working. I try and keep a lot of what I work with transferable to driving routes I can use with Google Maps. Too many back roads and unfamiliar territory for me stream hunting.

I don't have a lot of computer skills but I know what information I want and where I will need it.
I think the computer could do it to but I don't know how to do that.
I'm going to try learning more about Google Maps is there a web site geared towards the basics and how to go from there? I do like to explore Google Maps🙂

I'm working on a blog post for this week that covers using Google Drive My Maps. While Google Maps provides information on businesses, points of interests and established locations, Google Drive My Maps let's you create your own maps and points you deem important. I'll have something posted in several days.

It looks to me there may not be a February thaw till the later half of the month if not last week of February.
Heating bills will be very high for January from the Mississippi east this year.
