Awhile ago when i met Don Baylor at a bucks county TU meeting he mentioned there was a possibility that soon there was or just might be a public section of The Brodhead that would be open for fishing year round. Does anyone know if it exists? Thanks.

Is ForEvergreen open year round? I'm not digging into the regs, but I believe it might be since it's above the stocked sections. Might be worth researching further
I will see what i can find out. I was hoping to hear The Brodhead Creek Heritage Center in Anolomink was open year rd. Thanks.

Never been there, but can you park inside? Also btw, according to the maps I’ve seen, forevergreen is in a stocked section.

Yes, there's parking and a nice trail, as it is a re-wilded golf course. There's also a clubhouse that, I believe, TU tried to use at one point.

Again, I'm not doing the work of checking the annoying PA regs since I no longer live there, but, last I knew, stocking stopped at the 191 bridge. ForEvergreen was established as a wild trout preserve, so it's unfortunate if that's changed.

It’s been a few years but I used to fish above the high bridge (191). Plenty of parking cross over the RR tracks and down a some what steep hill to Broadhead. Great fishing, where Korkers or studs, your walking on greased bowling balls….like I said it’s been a few years, like 12 as I’ve been in AZ .

Now that I’m back in the area I do plan on heading up that way this spring so I’ll follow this thread and see what more knowledgeable folks say.

To my knowledge the ForEvergreen section is not stocked - though I have caught a few stocked trout in this section that must have made their way up or downstream. The one fish was a 15 inch tiger trout so I know it wasn't wild lol

The pfbc maps - both old and new - seem to indicate that it is 🤷‍♂️. Maybe the lines aren’t accurate?

The upper limit of Stocked Trout Water on the Brodhead is on Section 02, a little over a 1/2 mile upstream of where N. 5th Street (Route 191) crosses the stream.

The ForEvergreen section is on part of the former Penn Hills property, WELL above the upper limit of Section 02, Stocked Trout Waters.

Therefore, it legal to fish there year round, with no harvest when prohibited.

It isn't stocked by the PFBC and I doubt by ForEvergreen so what you are catching there are wild fish, holdovers and stockers that migrate. If you fished the Brodhead often, you know about the wild fish... 😉

FWIW - Don is the real deal, a great guy and a friend from my days in the Brodhead Chapter of TU back in the day...

Well, you finally made me look at the mess of regulations...

You seem to be correct. The upper limit of section 2 is now showing as up above some of the club water:

Brodhead Creek,2
Date:03-23-2026
Regulation: Stocked Trout Water
Upper Limit: 0.57 MI UPSTREAM NORTH 5TH STREET (S R0191). Lat & Long: 41.10522567,-75.22241013
Lower Limit: UPSTREAM PROPERTY BOUNDARY OF THE BRODHEAD CREEK REGIONAL AUTHORITY, Lat & Long: 41.02671000,-75.20444000

That's new to me. Isn't there almost no (official) public access up above 191??

No idea what this means for ForEvergreen. Once upon a time that property was loaded with signs explaining it was wild trout water and encouraging c&r.

EDIT: the upper limit is still listed above as .57 miles above 191 bridge. The pin that corresponds to the lat & long is about 4 miles further north than that stated upper limit 🤷‍♂️

Not according to the lat and long from the PFBC I posted above...

Why do we have to go through this crap with seemingly numerous streams every single spring? It makes no sense.

OP: go fish wherever you want. If you're stopped, explain that you're an anarchist, all property is theft, and you are simply liberating the creek.

Maybe people should rely less on Internet maps... 😉

The GIS map coordinates are wrong which happens However, if you read the description in the Summary, you would know they are wrong.

From the 2026 Summary:

Brodhead Creek (0.57 mile upstream North 5th Street to I-80 bridge East of Exit 309)
.57 of a mile is 3009.6 feet.

Upper limit coordinates from the PFBC Stocking Page:

41.04391000,-75.21600500

If you measure the mark on the map I posted that comes from the PFBC Stocking Page, it is approximately .57 of a mile north of the 5th Street Bridge over the Brodhead.

The coordinates I posted are from the PFBC page as well. So, no, one would not know if they are wrong or if the description is wrong. The two pieces of conflicting information are listed side by side.

OK so the coordinates are wrong where ever you are getting them, the description is the same EVERYWHERE so common sense would indicate someone screwed up the coordinates...

That's why I use the Summary...
