old coleman canoe, hopefully to be upgraded next year, been looking at an old town rockport. would like to get a native ultimate kayak, but I've spent less on motorcycles that can take me across the country! the rockport is a little more reasonable for my budget.

If you like the canoe, I'd say with them. Its all about what you are most comfortable fishing from. If you can test drive a yak before you upgrade, you'll know for sure. I like canoes but I really like my SOT kayak.

I've tried some kayaks, mostly whitewater models, handled like sportscars! canoe handles like a truck

The bigger sit on tops are totally different from a whitewater kayak. Mine has a space for an air tank so you could dive from it. Some even have pedal power so you can maneuver and fish at the same time.

As far as price. I got mine on Craigslist for 200 it sells for 700 so you can get lucky.
