Went to lower elk this morning it was blown out from all the rain sunday nite,so we went to the east side 12 mile , sixteen mile and 20 mile were high and fast that left us to fish 7 mile it came down later in the afternoon and fresh fish were being taken in fact at the mouth we saw fresh fish coming up (its about time ) tommorrow should be ideal conditions on all the creeks

FYI, I just got back from Erie last night....before the rain. Fritz and I rocked 'em on Elk Wednesday morning before we left for home. There is a fresh run of fish already in the creeks from Sunday nights rain. (.35 in)

On Monday Elk was pushing grass, high, muddy and raging. The Mile creeks didn't clear until Monday afternoon late. Sixteen mile anyway (12 hours after the rain.), 20 mile was still in the bushes at 1pm.

Tuesday we thought Elk would fish but it was still too fast with a visibility of 18". Walnut looked the same with less flow, very fishable but we found no fish at route 20 early so we left for the northeast streams. Only looked at 20mile, it was low and clear already (30 hours after the rain) but it had plenty of new fish.

Wednesday Elk was back down and prime with tons of new fish. We had 20+ hook ups in five hours mostly new fish. some monsters. (this was 54 hours after .35"of rain.)

So in summary, with .40" of rain that Erie received last night, I predict Elk will be in prime shape Saturday am. The mile creeks should be back down to low and clear, provided they get no more rain.

Thats how I see it, with one crooked eye.

I think it will be good on Saturday also. There's some light rain up there right now, which should keep the levels pretty much the same, and then drop to fishable levels by friday and Saturday. Bring your cold weather gear... neos, gloves, hat, layered up, etc. It wasn't too bad when I was up there last weekend. I didn't need any gloves, but it started to snow in the afternoon. Be prepared for the worst and hope for the best. Good luck guys!

Our luck was on basic nymphs last weekend, swinging them to sighted fish. Hares ears, pheasant tails, princes, etc.

Some eye candy to get you pumped...check out the fingerling my brother caught. 4-5" long, likely the resulf of a successful spawn last year on 20 mile.

I'm about 10 min from lake aurther as well, fish it often all summer long, usually take the canoe out for bluegills in the evenings after work. once in a while I get into perch(yum). lots of nice little coves to explore that the boat people can't get into to, they just anchor at the inlet and watch me catch fish!

I have plans for next summer to take an olive wooly bugger and beat up the banks on my bass boat.

Pick any color bugger you want . It works great. Throw a hopper every now and then too. Boom!

I usually fish 2 rods, popper on one, troll a wooly bugger with another while I paddle around. fish love both
