Decided to take a day off to hit this section and the big stockers. Fished from 10 - 5. Beautiful day, Nice and warm, a few clouds here and there. Lots of fishermen out, split between spin and fly.

Fished the lower section by the lower lot and picked up 2 on size 18 pheasant tail (usually the fly of choice on this stream for me). Moved up stream through the slack water into the rock section. Picked up a nice 15" Brown with the PT. Slowed down through lunch time. Lots of Big Black stones popping along with midges throughout the day. Saw risers through the slack water. Couldn't entice them to take. Tried skating Stone imitations and dropped midges. Nothing.

Took a break and finally got a spot in the deep hole towards the end of the day. I had seen anglers pulling 15" plus fish out of there the whole time. Picked up a nice fat Bow on a black prince. Couple other small ones. Last fish of the day was an 18" Brookie with hook jaw. Put up a really good fight for a stocker.

I went out today from 4:30 to dark. It was really crowded. I got a spot up at the bend before the creek turns away from the trail by where there is a little clearing with a pipe coming out of the ground. Fished for three hours along that bend and broke one fish off that I hooked on a little pattern I came up with myself. It's sort of a soft hackle/caddis pupa pattern. It is olive body, copper ribbing, brown dubbing head, hen hackle, deer a little deer hair, more brown dubbbing at the head, and a gold bead. Then, I got one on an olive bugger. Somehow as I went to scoop it with the net, the hook popped out and the bow and arrow effect just missed my head and gave me a nice big knot. That one was only a rainbow, maybe 12-13 inches. It jumped twice, the first time must have been 18 inches out of the water. Nothing compared to what was coming out of there right after they stocked it though...

I was surprised by the Brookie as well. It wasn't a classic brookie that's for certain but it definitely was not a Rainbow/Brown/Golden. I've seen stocked brookies and this was one of them.

Fished for an hour today. Most of the time was spent walking up to where the big concrete wall is. I got in down there and caught a fat rainbow. I let him keep my fly because I hooked him real good and the size 20 caddis hook just curved around the edge of his lip. He almost had a hookjaw. Right as I got him in the net it started to rain and I had a long walk without my rain jacket....
