Made it out to East Branch Antietam Creek in Waynesboro on Saturday. Great way to close out Winter. Very nice day. Sunny with air temps at 70 and the water temp at about 50 degrees. Water was clear, high and moving quickly from the recent winter snow melt. We got out from 11:30 to about 3:00.

A special day as it was the first time my son went out fly-fishing. We spent a lot of time learning how to roll cast. The time we did fish we tried nymphs, San Juan Worms, the dreaded green weenie and finally had a little luck with a woolly bugger.

No fish rising. We saw only a couple of stone flies and one other angler as we were leaving. We parked on the top end of the project off Welty Rd.

Nice to see the young man with a fish on.

Just had to login and say how awesome that is Dave! Like alby said, good to see a young man with a fish on. Chip off the old block 🙂

P.S. i like that bugger pattern

I was very proud of the fact he was had a pretty good roll cast going right away. It was his first time stream fishing too. The whole afternoon was a lot of fun.

My buddy Ron just stocked me up with the bugger and a few other patterns. He was one of the guys that taught me as I got started. Glad that we had one his buggers on when the fish was caught.

That is a great still shot of your son Dave. That smile is worth a thousand words. I'd put that in a frame. The first day out fly fishing and also catching your first fish is something to always remember. Especially from a dad's prospective.

I fished that stream once in the fall way up in the wooded section. caught quite a few wild brookies. Later in the day I moved down to the special reg area in the park. Water wasn't as nice as the woods. Caught zippo there.
I remember that foot bridge upstream of your son in the video. Atleast he caught something down there.
