I just think there's a weird tendency for people in this hobby to carry way too much crap now...
At one time had so much $#!+ in my vest that in jest I bought a dollhouse kitchen sink that I carried around in the back pocket as a joke...
When I ditched the vest, I ditched the tendency to carry as much, especially all of the EXTRA, EXTRA stuff. These days I'm pretty much a minimalist because it works for me, but I get the folks that aren't sure or have the Boy Scout motto tattooed on their forearm.
However, I'll never forget a couple of blokes I saw fishing one day in Southcentral, PA. They both had stuffed backpacks with at least two rod tubes attached and a rod in their hand, chest waders, nets, wading staffs and bulging chest packs out in front.
And they were fishing the Run in Boiling Springs...
😳
Where I used to fish from the bank with a fly box in my back pocket...
Now, I get that they COULD have been fishing the Yellow Breeches before, but IF they were they were, they were most likely on the Allenberry stretch which is only about a mile long...
To each his or her own, but all that kit for that beat; really???
This John Troy cartoon says it all:
