Fingers are free and can be used tool free, unlike tools…
For those of us that that work responsibly at sawmills. 😉
All assumptions are wrong. I spin deer hair and smoosh it back with my phalanges. One would assume you hold hooks with your fingers and are all about whip finishing by hand, just holding a spool of thread between your fingers to go sans bobbin, using your fingers instead of hackle pliers and biting off excess thread with your teeth...
Or is it just a $2.50 fly tying tool that you find unnecessary? 😎
Glad you posted this pic! I also bought some fly-tying materials from some family members who were clearing out some old fly-tying equipment. Actually, I bought two lots of fly-tying materials, tools, vises, etc. I too have thread, hackle, furs, etc. for a lifetime and then the afterlife LOL.A friend of mine gave me his late father’s fly tying collection. It’s an amazing batch of stuff. I will have more thread, hackles, deer hair etc.. for my lifetime. There is one tool I can’t quite figure out. They were in with the thread spools so I think it’s something to do with that. Thanks in advance.
