Time to get back to fishing!
I was fortunate enough to take this nice Ohio buck last evening. 20yd shot and down in seconds. That woods were crazy with rut activity last night. I first saw this buck after hearing a loud grunt and then a fight. He has a freshly broken tine on his left side which I think he may have broke in the fight. I know the exact spot he was fighting so I will be looking for that tine now.
Just in time for some great fall fishing!
Maybe I can find that elusive 1st brown trout this fall..

Nice buck!!!

New moon and the impending cold front has them riled up - nice shot and congrats - I haven’t even bothered with licensing/tags as there’s no way I can make it out this season - I do miss some back straps being on the smoker - maybe late season/second rut if I can get a kitchen pass

Very nice buck! Sounds like things are starting to crank up a bit. I’ll be hunting Ohio the first week of November. Probably won’t get much PA hunting in before that time. However, I appreciate the boost of positive thinking!

Our farm is really heating up.
Scrapes and rubs everywhere, and then all of the chasing yesterday.
Where are you going to be at in Ohio? I have 9 days off starting on 10/31 so I will dow hunting and fishing that week. If your close and happen to any help let me know

Congrats on the nice buck.
Things are also heating in this part of PA. I'm planning on sitting in stands the next few days. We'll see how I make out but I've had good luck after October cold fronts drop high temperatures15°f or more.

I think that cold front is slamming into Iowa right now. We have freeze watches up for this weekend. The temp dropped nearly 20 degrees and we have a biting NW gale.

I'm heading out Sat/ next week with my flintlock to see what I can do during our early muzzy residents-only season. But honestly, I've been too caught up in other stuff to get too worked up if I don't punch that tag next week. Will only be able to hunt evenings during the work week. If I don't have a buck down by Tues, if a doe gets too close, I won't hold back.

Great looking buck! Congrats! Hope you can find that G3, if not, still a beauty.
My target buck that I've been after for three years just showed up last Sat. Hoping to see him when it counts.

I usually try to get a doe in the freezer and hit the last part of the rut for Bucky - I’ll tag out with two does and forget about antlers if possible - lots of bonus doe tags in some WMUs - this year probably won’t even present an opportunity though 😑
