Anyone got suggestions on the best places to hit for the fall? Was wondering if anyone had fished near the Hammersley Wild Area, as the maps show some good water there. Was also considering the Little Juniata. Looking to wade and looking for any advice, thank you all and happy fishing!

I was in the Hammersley area mid to late last week. At the time the flows were extremely low, however, with the recent passing of the remnants of a hurricane, the area should be fishing well now.

I'll be at camp for a work weekend. At least I won't have the fishing to distract me.

There are pre spawn invasive Brown trout in just about every cold/coolwater stream you can think of - pick one and try it out - you can find large migratory fish in places you never thought they’d be - they’re still feeding and getting territorial - pretty soon they’ll get the real urge to merge that’s when I try to fill a deer tag - then back to it for post spawn - big migrants usually hang around in some of those “non-trout” streams and forage until the real freezing starts - here are a few clues of the types of water where these transient trout dwell short term:

those are some pretty big clues!
Well I said types of water knowing that much of the entry way to that particular named stream is now posted - and the other water is on government property requiring a specific ID - again types of limestone tributaries to larger spate type main flows can yield results - like all fishing, you’ve gotta pay your dues and not rely on any old info - a few more clues:

Target Rock Bass

Respectfully, I agree and certainly do fish for all species available to me throughout the year.

Less respectfully, you can take your rock bass and shove it.

Upstate NY is in the midst of a couple year cycle of brutally cold winters and hot, low precipitation summers that hasn't made for great trout fishing. I've caught plenty of warm water fish this year; I'd very much enjoy casting to a trout eating a little bwo on a cold, rainy fall day tomorrow.

I’ll shove it 😉… I get it. That stinks. Hope Mother Nature is more cooperative.

Two weeks ago when I was out, granted it was WI and not PA, also a little further north; but anyways, deep holes worked with a streamer yielded vicious strikes from browns. Grey Ghost was good to me. They (the browns anyways) wanted meat. Not buggy-boos, anymore up there.
