Its a 2.5 hour drive from pittsburgh for me
And I dont usually drive that far unless I can stay a night to 2.

Sounds good. I will. I prefer driving less than that, and I can be on lots of wild trout streams in less than 30 minutes. I'll stay home. 👍🏾

Yea why don't yinz all stay home and leave it me to post 22+ inch brown trout, I prefer these big SOBs over double digit little J trout any day of the week,haha tight lines

Are you saying I'm fishing in to warm of water, that's fine I can read a thermometer 🌡️Because of this thread and my extra time at work I was poking around a bit and found this article.
Two things jumped out at me though the article is 11 years old now.
1) are there numerous 6-8 brookies in the east branch?
2) the author can't figure out why is alone in August fishing it while you guys are telling people to lay off of it soon.....

I like lots of small, easy to catch wild trout in places where the fish see little pressure.
That's my M.O. when it comes to trout fishing. Sure, I like big fish, but I really like easy fish..

When that was written they did brook trout fingerling stocking. That was stopped a few years ago. Since that stopped I've caught 2 brook trout over there which probably came from one of the two tribe that have small ST populations.1) are there numerous 6-8 brookies in the east branch?

As someone said if I lived in central pa I wouldnt fish the Clarion either,but as both are 2 hrs for me I'll take a tank or 6 that's over 20 inches over a double digit day on the little J any day,that's why I'm only the J once or twice a year sometimes 0, I'm not a 2-3 wt 6 X tippet fisherman I'm a 6-7 wt sometimes 8Wt with minimum 10 lb tippet kind of guy,to each there own and tight lines ,pull this in on 6 X ,haha

Intrigued as well. A friend’s father lives nearby, closer to brockway, and we regularly would go to his camp when I was younger and fish there. I’ve always wanted to take my boat up there but I am hesitant not knowing the water/boat access. The yough, which is comparable size wise, has very limited boat access, and during summer/fall flows you usually can’t go up or downstream very far until you reach a spot that is too low to get through without damaging your boat/outboard. If anyone is familiar and would be willing to be a river guide for a day or share some information in exchange for a day on the water….

Same boat. My pb brown was a hair over 10lbs and been chasing them ever since. NOTHING compares to a river pig taking a topwater, though

So this guy in the article has the place himself.
I find it humorous that the author is fishing a trout stream known to get warm in August is pondering why he is alone in August fishing it.

I get up at 3:00 am.leave by 3;30 on the water in the dark,water temp is below 59,I fish till 9!30 or so when the water temp hits 61 or so I'm done,now I'm getting accused of fishing warm water,I was just trying to let people know that by 10;00 10,!30 11:00 it might be to warm and fisherofmen is busting my kahonas,🤔

Im trying to point out that anyone who knows, fishes it regularly with any desire to know the watershed, knows it gets warm. Those that dont fish it regularly, then get told by another, with wisdom, that it gets warm and they won't fish it in the late Summer.
Not the author of the article I shared. He continues and wonders why he is alone, encouraging others to fish it in the late summer.
I find that humorous. Writers in the fly fishing world give the appearance of being experts but sometimes they are just equally ignorant.
I know in today's world people do nothing but attack. Always waiting in the shadows for a snare to snap and to take another who dare speak.

However, now thinking about it deeply. I wonder if Mike's science of the 15 minute intervals applies the Clarion and its branches. While it most certainly does you won't see me accusing you of wrongdoing.
