Young Woman's Creek, Slate Run, Pine Creek, Lycoming County, 6/10 - 6/12/17

We took a little trip a bit further into Pennsylvania this past weekend. We stayed north of Interstate 80. We fished Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning before heading back. It was a beautiful weekend with daytime temperatures in mid 80s and the streams are all at great levels. We fished Young Womans Creek, Slate Run and its tributaries and Pine Creek. Overall the fishing was great.

In Young Woman's Creek I picked up several rainbows like this working the pools and runs with a hare's ear nymph.

Pine Creek as seen here in Slate Run, PA is in great shape water level wise. In the evening the hatches (sulphurs, BWOs, Light Cahils, Slate Drakes all brought up the trout). There are so many big fish (16 to 20 inches) coming up to dries in this river! It is unbelievable!

In the morning (between 8 am and 10 am), an 18 BWO dun or an 18 BWO spinner did the trick. On 6X tippet you had go easy on hook sets and play them carefully. I lost a few really big ones.

This river is in really good shape right now and the fishing is fantastic! Others I spoke to agreed.

Creekfisher was there many people in slate run and Pine? It usually is packed up there.

Not too bad, but I didn't get to Slate and Pine until Sunday. It may have been winding down for the weekend. You could get away and have your own piece of water with plenty of rising fish. Monday morning was real nice. I was the only one at the water in front of Hotel Manor.
