An almost exact duplication of my trip last weekend. Karen and I drove up to the big woods of north central PA on Saturday and spent the evening and Sunday morning on Young Woman's Creek and Pine Creek. I wanted to fish that Blue Wing Olive hatch in the morning because it brings up so many really nice fish. We also escaped some of the heat we are experiencing in central Maryland (95 today in Westminster). It was hot as well in northern PA (85 on Saturday and 88 on Sunday). Even with some rain on Friday, (the West Branch of the Susquehanna was running high and muddy), Pine Creek and Young Woman's Creek were clear and a little bit down from last weekend. The streams up there are in great shape coming into the warmest part of the season.
We took a few brook trout and a rainbow trout on Young Woman's Creek on nymphs and dries.
This rainbow and a few of the brookies were taken on a sulphur nymph.
Karen took this nice native brook trout on a rusty spinner dry on Young Woman's Creek.
We fished Pine Creek at Slate Run the last hour or so before dark taking them on sulphurs and light cahills.
On Sunday morning we hit the BWO hatch on Pine Creek which has been happening around 8 am.
