Karen and I headed to one of our favorite areas in Central PA to fish Penns Creek. There has been a lot of rain and Penns was high and off-color. We stayed in Coburn on Penns but on Saturday we headed a bit north and fished some nice freestone water. We hit Young Woman’s Creek, one of our favorites. We fished nymphs and woolly buggers in some of the deeper holes, but for the most part, we fished dries. There were lots of bugs on the water – Caddis, Blue Quills then eventually Sulphurs. An Adams size 14 to 20 or a Sulphur size 16 cast over broken water drew plenty of strikes.

That looks wonderful. But, looking at the USGS stream flows this morning, it appears that YWC is now flowing quite high. Before I looked at the USGS information, you had me talked into driving up for the first time in years.

Great report creekfisher!!! I miss your reports. I really like the photos. Those are some fantastic looking trout on a pretty stream. Keep them coming.
