Fished the Yough downstream of the confluence with Casselman between 400 PM and dark. Gauges said it was about 1150 cfs and 60 degrees + or -. There were rising trout the entire time, sometimes more, sometimes less, but pretty constant. I saw sulfurs in about size 16, wings were silvery and body pale yellow. I also saw some BWO or blue quill and from a distance two larger mayflies, perhaps slate drakes and cahills. There were also size 18 or smaller caddis later in the day that I didn't examine for color.
The fish were cooperative. Seems they responded best to lower riding imitations such as emergers and comparaduns. I stuck with sulfur imitations in these styles. Never had to tie on a wet fly and kept busy the whole time.
The fish were smaller than I'm used to in that area, mostly 11-12 inches, though I did land a brown trout that may have pushed 14".
