Went with Mike from Laurel Highlands Guide Service and had a great day. Most of the time you won't put numbers on the Yough but the fish you catch tend to be quality and of good size. We started to look for risers right after the boat was launch. Caddis were in the air and on the water. Nothing at first, but soon we saw several rise forms. I casted short several times missing the target. The third cast I was about to pickup thinking I missed the dinner plate when a chunky 17" rainbow grabbed my offering. It appears yough trout cruise alot and the fish was clearly saw my fly and took it. We casted large streams for awhile and nymphed. My cousin ended up with a nymphed trout. I noticed that slate drakes were coming off in good numbers so I asked Mike if he had a good slate drake pattern and he obliged. I worked the bank and missed a couple of trout. Then we arrived a long calm pool. No rising action so we were back to streamers. My fly suddenly thudded as I retrieved back. At first I thought I was caught on a rock then I felt a head shake. Three minutes later Mike was netting my 23" rainbow! I was very excited, I knew big fish were in the Yough but this is the first one I have caught. We had some more risers right before we took out but the big rainbow made the trip for me. I am true Yough believer now.
