Seems like its been years since I got out on the Yough. Cause it has been. last years flush of constant rain washed the cool water out of the dam before I ever got down there.
So its no wonder I was up before the alarm went off at 3AM. I packed up the cooler and was on my way pretty quickly. I dropped my two man toon off before anyone else in the group got there. I'd run the trailer down to Ohiopyle and catch a ride back with one of our group.
7:20 AM Albatross and the group were well assembled and we were soon to be underway.
The day called for party Sunny Skies to the mid 80s. Flow was about 750CFS but got a modest bump to about 950. Water was clear and low 60s climbing to mid 60s by the end of the day.
WE wasted little time working down the river. The raft and kayak crowd would be on us like a pack of wolves soon enough. Beside a chase on a streamer on Albys boat, it was slow. but it picked quick when they stopped to work some enticing water and Andrew stuck a very large brown on an Iso dry. The old iso dry strikes again.
and so thought out the day and well placed dry would produce the occasional rise and we all picked up a few in between rafts of clueless rafter. One guy actually got out and SWAM into the pod of risers!
Olives also accounted for some fish before the day was over and the heat won out in the end.

The Yough can beat you up in more ways than one. The fishing can be tough. The boaters can be tough. the weather can be tough, and so can the rocks... But I'll save that for another thread.

Can't wait to get back down there on a cold rainy Autumn day. It'll be deliciously lonely then.

Great post. Whoa... That is one pig of a brownie! Beautiful fish. Hope the temps hold up for a couple more weeks anyway.

Great report.

I'll say cause it's what everyone is thinking...
Wish I coulda joined you guys.

Dave, this Covid has made floating fairly difficult, but you are always welcome on my casting deck.

Gotta get D Kile down there too one day.

I highly recommend taking a float with DaveS. Even if the fishing sucks its a great time.
