Intermittent thunder showers disrupted the trip, but fishing generally good. Fish sporadically hitting surface flies such as caddis and light cahills. Small BWO's after rain. Water temp a chilly 51 degrees below the outflow. Low release rate as there was a fatality in the river near Ohiopyle and they were still searching for the body.

Saw that on the news last night. I'm pretty sure it was a commercial float. Also saw that someone was lost in the McConnells Mills area overnight. The longer I'm fishing, the more I fish with other people.

I biked from ohiopyle to confluence yesterday, what were you wearing? I spoke to an older guy smoking a cigar. I also spotted a few good fish from the bridge. Didnt see any fish caught in the 10 mins I was breaking on the bridge.

It was funny to see the muddy mess of the casselman combine with the crystal clear outflow. The water isnt truly mixed for atleast 1/2 mile.

Even when both are clear, there is a line of demarcation between trout water and bass water. 60s on the Fayette side and high 70s on Somerset side, at least down to Ramcatt access.

Albud,

We (Me, DaveS, Bruno, and Studentofthestream) were supposed to float the middle Yough Saturday June 29, but the storms took their toll and below Confluence the Yough was chocolate. We ended up fishing from the dam down to the junction pool. Our results were much like yours except we didn't see any cahill action.

I'm well and I hope you are too!

With my vessel I can do part from Confluence to Ramcatt

Jared,

Yep your vessel would make that float easily.

Pardon me, but your vessel reference reminds me of a favorite Star Trek quote...

The quote comes just after 1:20 on the video:

Its possible…. maybe I can go to Alameda (read - Ohiopyle)…but I have to put the skirt on…!… :-D :-D
