Fished Yellow Creek in the Loysburg Gap from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. What an AMAZING stream.
Hooked and lost the same large fish THREE TIMES IN A ROW on a black/green wooly bugger in an undercut pocket under the bank. Couldn't get a fourth strike. 🙂
Decided to take advantage of some beginning surface action. Went to the bottom of a large pool and took my first fish, a beautiful 9" wild brown on an ant. Worked up the pool and had no luck with the ant. Lots of activity so I switched flies. Saw some BWO coming off, but I'd never had luck with them, especially in the emergers. Decided to try anyway and I'm SO glad I did. In the next 50 casts I caught about 18-20 fish (all browns), about 6-8 in the 14-16 inch range. Really a blast.
