Yellow Creek, Bedford Co., 13Dec2008

I was able to stop and fish Yellow Creek on my way home from DC this afternoon. The creek was up a bit with a nice green color. I caught one brown on a beadhead pheasant tail, but the remainder of my fish came on stonefly nymph patterns. The last fish of the day was a beautiful football of a rainbow.

The ice in the trees on the mountains of central PA was gorgeous today this picture doesn't quite do it justice.

Thanks Sal. The woods really were breathtaking today.

Here's another angle on that rainbow that shows the girth better I think. This fish was extremely fat and healthy.

That is a very pretty and fat fish. One trout like that and the scenery that you saw can make it all worth it. Even when its cold 🙂

Absolutely beautiful rainbow albross. Fish like that generally fight pretty hard. If you don't mind telling, what size and color stoneflies were you throwing? I am planning on giving Yellow Cr. a try in the near future.

This was probably a size 10 conehead rubberlegs shiney gold stonfly nymph pattern. I bought it at Gander Mountain.

That's one of the most beautiful, colored-up rainbows I've seen in a long time. Congrats.

My nephew would like to go to Yellow either Monday or Tuesday of this week. But here in Somerset county with all the rain we had on Friday the creek are still high and off color. Does anyone know what Yellow looks like? If someone hit it on Saturday or Sunday and could give some kind of report I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
