Yellow Creek access Bedford

Does anyone know if the water below the project, below the main bridge, is now open?
I know Home Waters or whatever it’s called had it posted with a yellow sign every 5 ft
along time ago. Curious, it was mentioned on a nice day watching stoneflies hatch at
The Arco hole on the Loyalhanna. A buddy said the landowner might have ended his lease.

We fish it several times a year and fished it last May. The water below the bridge is still posted. Been fishing that steam for close to twenty years (?) and have never seen anybody fishing below the bridge. Have talked to locals and there are sections further down that allow fishing.

I have fished Yellow Creek this spring. While conversing with other anglers, two mentioned that the stream no longer has a green drake nor sulfur hatch. A landowner I spoke to in the parking lot confirmed this statement. Each year, his home would be covered with little black stone flies. This year, only several were seen. He stated the stream has high levels of nitrates from the upstream farms. Has anyone experienced a decrease in the insects that historically populated the stream?

Two out of the last four years we hit two really good sulfur hatches. Had some on BWOs. Last year no sulphur hatches but good one in 2024. Fished various dry sulphur patterns for a couple hours. I fish a lot of nymphs and do catch a lot on wet fly and emergers there. I really think it depends on the weather and time of year.

Yes, the area immediately below the FFO section is still posted
But there is plenty of open water further downstream that you can
fish, all the way down to hopewell
A road follows the creek pretty much the whole way down

I’ve had a senior license for eight years now and buy my trout stamps online so I don’t get the regulations book. Looking at it recently online I noticed that on any part of Yellow Creek it is not permitted to kill or possess brown trout. This is also the rule on several other regulated/ stocked streams. Look at the section under special regulations. I also noticed that in the FFO section they only stock rainbows. I did catch a brookie once.
