Yellow Breeches, Cumberland County 7-16-15

Wanted to fish the upper breeches but too many anglers were at my favorite spots. Ended up at Boiling Springs, surprisingly, not crowded. Caught a fair number of fish on top and subsurface. Water was clear and at a good level. Ants, inchworms worked well. Used junk files to fool the rest. Risers were evident but the insects they were eating were not. Saw some Cahills and pale evening duns about 7 pm. Even though I caught fish with terrestrials, I wish I knew what was on the water driving the surface feeding. I casted a few dry mayfly patterns including emergers but the fish had no interest. Any insight is appreciated.

Midges? Spent BWOs?

My money is on the midge. My go to is the palomino midge in grey and olive fished in the surface film. I've also had some really good days using an ICSI midge (parachute with bright colored post) in the same colors. Seems on day they want grey and the next they will not touch it. I use sizes 20-22 in both patters.
