Yellow Breeches, Cumberland County, 10-23-16

Fished the Run thru Allenberry 2 Sundays ago. Water level was low and clear despite rain the day or two prior. H20 temp was upper 50s if I recall correctly. Time was late afternoon and the wind was brutal blowing downstream at 15-20 mph in the open space around AB but dropped off as the day wore on. Saw a few spinners before dusk when the wind stopped.

Dries seemed impossible in the windy areas due to the water surface and massive leaf fall.

Took 2 Brownies on Buggers that hit on the swing as well as the strip in. Spoke with another gent that took 4 the day before on a Prince Nymph.

Finished up on the run with dries (wind quit) with hooking up twice with a small Pale Sulfur (touch free release😉 and when I couldn't see my fly I switched to a size 18-20 Black Caddis and finally landed a Brownie in the twilight.

I did not fish much as I was trying to teach a lady friend on her first time out with her fly set up. The fish are beautiful there right now in their fall colors with some of the Rainbows truly earning their name.

With daylight fading and not being able to get out on the water as much as I have been, I figured I could at least talk about it and learn off the water.

Sounds like a decent day given the conditions. I am surprised some that water levels were low, but then that seems to be everywhere lately. This is first fall in some time that I've seen waters so low.
