Pulled into the lot at the "run" at about 4 p.m. and it was almost empty. OK....thank you NFL! Fished down through the fast water below the run and only picked up one fish nymphing. Then I saw the only other fisherman in the entire section. Walked around him and continued down to the deeper water. Lots of risers to "no seeums". I couldn't get anything to work, including the size 20 red ant. Finally I tied on the smallest dry I have. A cream colored something in about a size 26 and shazam! Hooked up with a few and missed alot. Then the guy above me broke his rod on a fish (not that big of a fish) so I was all alone for the rest of the evening. Believe it or not, just before dark, white flies started to come off and I ended the night catching a few on a white fly. Hmmmmmm, is this unusual for white flies this late?

Went there this morning (tuesday), Seems like that stretch, the first hundred or more yards from the run down is kinda empty, no fish to be seen then they are everywhere once the water begins to slow a little and deepen.

I had slow day today, lots of looks, but no takers. I saw a decent number of trout, even sat and watched a few rising to something that I could not see with my 20/20 vision. Watched a large brook trout feeding behind a rock and a large brown dancing in the current and rising.

I think I need to restock my fly selection this winter. My boxes are looking kind of empty. I am running low on very small flies, like griffiths knats and tricos. I don't think I have anything smaller than an 18 in any of my boxes , which is a lot bigger than what they were after today. I've noticed within the past few months all my smaller stuff is getting used up, must be all the low clear water we've had this year.

I amazes me how many suckers and carp there are down by Allenberry. I wet waded today so didn't fish all the way down. I didn't want to get my shorts wet today.

I also brought my stream camera, then realized it had no memory card in it. Oh, come to think of it, here it is, sticking in the slot in my laptop. Doh!

My opinion on the first 100 or 200 yds of that stretch is there's not many fish (have caught a few) due to a few factors, 1-those herons are catching alot of fish in there with the low water and I don't think the YB Club is putting any fish down in there anymore. But like you said, there's still a ton of fish on down. BTW I had one of those carp grab my large pt while fishing in the upper end of the slow water on Sunday. Good fight for about 5 min. then I tried to put some pressure on and broke off the 6X.
