Made it out behind Allenberry tonight from 7-9:15 pm. Fishing pressure wasn't too bad, only saw about 10 guys in total. Started off with some white fly nymphs which got some hits. Around 7:45 I started to notice some Hexes flying around but no trout rising on them. So I put on a whitefly emerger which took a few fish until I noticed a good amount of whites coming off around 8:20. I threw on a whitefly dun but didn't have too much action. So finally around 8:45 I put on a whitefly spinner and had some pretty good luck with a few fish hooked. I ended the night around 9:15 with around 7 fish in total. The water temp was around 61 and the water clarity was pretty clear. The flies were in sizes 12 and 14. The whitefly and Hexes got pretty heavy after dark but they still aren't at their peak yet. My guess would be that they would be getting close to peaking around the weekend-next week.

Quick question. Does the whole stream receive the white fly hatch? I am thinking about fishing it Saturday night since my plan to fish the Susquehanna is probably going to be nixed due to the rain. It seems everyone fishes the regulation area for the hatch and I don't want to deal with people. I would rather fish an area with less fish, but also less people.

Yes, you can fish out of the regulation area a still see a good hatch come off. But, from my experience, the hatch is always the heaviest from "The Run" down to the end of the regs area. Some personal recommendations would be to try the area downstream of Criswell Rd near where the first train bridge is. Also, you may even have luck down towards McCormick rd. But like I said, you will normally see fewer and fewer bugs flying around because once you go downstream of Criswell rd, the cold water supply from "The Run" starts to taper off letter the water get warmer. But normally I could find an area with not too many guys on the 1mile stretch of reg water. If needed, park at Allenberry and if its too crowded, cross the stream and go up the bank into the open area. Take that trail upstream until you find a spot.

Interesting that the hatch peters out as the water gets warmer downstream. Wondering how the white fly hatch can be so heavy then on the Susquehanna which is far warmer water then the Breeches.

Thanks! I appreciate the info. I only fished the Breeches two times and that was a long time ago. I fished the regulation area, but is was the winter and I didn't have to deal with many people. That is all the information I need. Thanks a lot!
