I was in the area today and stopped by to fish a section of the upper Yellow Breeches that I never fished before. It was late morning and conditions were not what I would call ideal with a bright sun overhead. I didn’t really fish for very long and only covered about 400’ of stream. I fished a 3 fly wet fly system through the riffles, runs and into some deeper pockets. I didn’t see much insect activity but there definitely was some movement of caddisflies.
I brought 8 gorgeous wild brownies to hand, lost a few and missed probably as many more. My wet fly hooking techniques were just a tad bit rusty but it all felt very good. I would have loved to spend more time exploring new water but I just didn’t have it today. Amidst a slew of the early ATW crowd, the bugs are moving and the wild fish are looking up. I’ll be back after ‘em another day.
