Drove up to Breeches was rainy walked around in the fly shop, and bought a 1/4 zip pullover and headed down to Allenberry. Fished below the damn, caught one nice Brown on a Gnat. Fished above the damn, and a Palomino just swam circles around me. He was feeding on the surface and came out of the water once after something. There was activity, but I didn't see what they were feeding on. I could not see any of the fish hitting the surface above the damn because I left my fishing glasses in the car. Not my best day. Rain wasn't that bad. I managed to catch a brown in the run later with a tied earthworm. Saw two large rainbows spawning, chasing suckers away from their spot. Met an older fellow who liked my homestyle worms, and I gave him one, then I watched him pull out two browns in the upper run. One with my worm, and one with a cressbug. Then I left.

Yesterday I was also "walkin' in the cold November Rain" - Guns & Roses
I was back at the "other spot" I won't mention it, but I caught a native brown and a couple stockies!!!! or maybe a stockie with jaundice?
Years ago, I lived in Carlisle and used to flyfish the Allenbury area all the time. Even upstream in the Breeches, very good, and what used to be a Nirvana......... Mountain Creek.
I fished Mountain Creek before they broke the dam and let all the silt wreck the gravel bottom trout paradise. Now Mountain Creek is a mudhole ditch with a couple suckers swimming around! LOL
I'm so glad that you caught a couple at Allenbury. I'm dying to give it a try.
I'm so glad the flyshop is still in business. I purchased my first ever flies there.

Yeah I decided to give the other hole a break. Not that it isn't good fishing, because it is. Below the dam was ok but I went in above it and ended up wading in too deep. My vest got wet and I was on my tip toes trying to make it to shallow water. I ended up with my 5 weight wrapped around my legs under water and trying to untangle it in all but 5 feet of water. I hope nobody saw me Saturday. Then it really started to pour. Other than my two average sized browns, (and they were purty) I missed two small rainbows. Wonder why its always the bows that get off.
