I had the opportunity to make it up to the breeches with a good friend on thursday to catch my first pennsylvania trout of the year. The weather was cooperative as the temperature remained in the upper 30s with bright sunshine throughout the day with an occational strong breeze. I landed two nice rainbows. One on a white wolly bugger in the bottom section of the run and the other in the catch and release section on a single egg pattern. My buddy landed a beautiful brown, which came from the large bend below Allenbury. That fish came to a minnow pattern and he also released a nice rainbow which came on a pink single egg further up in the C&R section. It was very enjoyable to make it back out on PA waters and I am anticipating my first trip up to the State College region this year.

Nice fish man!

good to hear someones been getting out lately. Maybe this weekend forme 🙂 nice fish BTW:-D

Its in the 50's here today...snow is melting fast...gonna try to ski tonight. I think the water might be really cold and pretty high the next few days around here. Looks great there. nice fish.

7X,
Nice job - beauty of a 'bow. The YB looks a lot better than it did last weekend when it was frozen with slush in the middle.

Thanks for the complements. I think it would have been about 24in with an entire tail, but I'm not complaining. If anyone is planning on fishing the breeches this weekend, I think we would have taken more fish if we reduced our tippet size and put a small trailer nymph behind the single egg patterns. I was using 4X tippet. Good luck to all.
