Yellow Breeches Cumberland 4/16

I fished from the Messiah University covered bridge up to the railroad bridge and down to the pedestrian bridge yesterday from about 9am to 11:30. The water was higher and stained from the rains Saturday, which I had hoped would make them less picky. Cream midges, the occasional caddis, and a few mayflies I could not identify came off periodically, but I saw only a few rises. I did manage to hook one of those, but it was on the swing and quickly popped off. Otherwise, I had no fish to the net. I do know for a fact I was fishing over fish, as I saw two different mink take and eat a trout in the course of the day. I've done very well in this stretch with terrestrials later in the season before, but did not manage in my usual spots. If I were to do anything differently again, I should have gotten deeper. Still, it was a peaceful day to be out, and observing a better fishing technique from the mink was a bonus that I am using as my excuse for the skunking.

I did a little better on a killer bug in tan/green yarn and brown CDC collar . Fish seemed to be about a foot off bottom. I fished between the park and railroad bridge below Boiling Springs. Lots of nymphs on the rocks but also saw some of those mud snails. I hadn't seen the Breeches on the list of infested cricks. I called PAFBC about the snails and they asked me location details .
I also saw 2 herons doing good fishing.
