Fished with PaulG & Merle from 10 am til 2:30. Water temp 62 below the dam at Allenberry. Very nice day. Not much hatching, a caddis or two, and one mayfly. At dark there were sulfurs and hex spinners. It was a terrestrial day. Crowe beetles, ants and caddis pupae caught fish for the three of us. After a nice day of fishing, Paul treated us to lunch at Anile's it was awesome. JackM met us for the evening rise. Jack picked up a few fish, the Hexes were heavy for a few minutes, I even picked up a fish on an immitation I tied ten years ago that always sunk. But today it paid off. Here are some pics. The fish I caught, Merle, Paul, Me and Jack landing a fish with a gallery. Paul caught the big fish of the day and Merle tailed a 5 lb carp....I mean he reached down and picked it up by the tail. He must be part cherokee. shudda got a pic of that.

I believe I saw that fellow fishing the run take some pictures of the run as I came down the other side. Had I known I surely would've said hello.
 
Hey squaretail, That was me. You had no hat on correct? We were waiting for Jack to show up.

How did you do downstream? We drove below because we thought there were a few too many guys who had arrived for the four of us to add to the mix.
 
As expected the white flies and drakes started happening but unexpectedly they actually started smacking them. But all they did was smack my fly about 30 times as Squaretail took his 1st skunking in quite some time. There was quite a few fellers but one man in particular from Ohio fishing our streams called an ambulance the night before for an older fisherman down there and lost one of his nights he came all the way out here to fish. Good man.
My buddy that showed up later reached in the water, and instead of a carp pulled up a dying trout that looked mighty wild to me. If not it was a resident of atleast a few years and was probably over 20". Have some puctires I havent downloaded yet but it looked like a heron attack from what I could tell.
 
No doubt excellent fishing there. I am glad you guys had a good time. Just so many people there all the time for me to go back more frequently. Enjoy! Paul
 
I'm sort of lucky in that my mom's family is from the Harrisburg area, I grew up in Reading, my dad's side is from lancaster county, I went to college in Clarion and we have a camp in Clinton county. My mom currently lives in the lehigh valley. I have an excuse to visit most places so I usually don't make trips there just to fish. I fish when I get to those places instead. I guess what I need is for one of my relatives to move to Erie...
 
It was great to see you guys again. On Thursday, I went back by myself for the last couple hours of daylight and caught one only. Merle and Paul got out with me again on Friday. Paul and Merle both did better than I did, but I avoided the skunk with a decent trout just an or so before we left. On all three trips, I missed so many takes, I'm thinking of giving up the sport.... Ok, I'm full of it, I did miss a bunch, but the rest was a lie.

Maurice, what wt and what kind of rod did you use, also what kind of line?
How about the size of the flies you caught fish on? I won't tell anyone.
Looked like a wonderful time. Sometimes I wish I could leave the smallmouth alone and catch some trout............ well, Oct 5th is only a couple weeks away.

I used a 7.5' 3/4 wt Orvis Silver Label with a SA ($10.00) wallyworld line. Caught fish on #14-#16 beetles, and #16 caddis larvae. #16 ant. and a #10 2xl Hex spinner. Hows that for a range.

Whats happening October 5th?
