Yellow Breeches Creek 1st week

All,

first off its a real pain to log in to this site seems to be incorrect login as per usual. Report~ the Breeches was at optimum water levels this past week slightly high and will stay that way GO deep . the usual circus was out at the easy access spots but go down creek a ways and no one. the State did a good job with stocking and size of fish cant complain. found alot of open space as well sunday and monday. the Anglers stock 14th and 21st tons o sweet trout know how you all feel about stockies but a trout by any name on a fly rod equals quality fun.

Hey Sal,
I will be the first to spout off about the joys of wild trout, but I love to fish for fish that have been fished over. By mid-summer those stockies are gettin' pretty wise. Try hitting the Trico hatch at Allenberry on an mid-August morning, it is a blast. You can get alot of looks and every take is worth it.

I'm still quite a novice at the fly game trying it most at allenberry(to the tamers) and getting quite frustrated indeed need to actually spend a day with an expirienced flyman to realize when im getting hits my casting is not bad but have not got the knack yet especially to try tricos...my best luck is below with Prince nymphs and shenks minnows and in summer black crickets on top.

My question is what works well NOT at allenberry but other sections of the breeches?

Sal, you can't go wrong with a black foam beetle( by one in the fly shop) on top anywhere on the Breeches. Down under a prince, olive hares ear beadhd or not, and of course a caddis larvae in olive will catch any fish in that crick. Good luck, if you see a red suburban overthere in the parking lot say hello and maybe we can fish a little.
