Would you have turned Around?

Just play tag. I haven’t been able to touch a bear yet. I try on every one*. Probably over 200 encounters at this point in my life. I run straight towards them as fast as I can and say “come here bear, let me pet you!” In northern Pa this is the traditional accepted technique, been that way for about 150 years around here. Still works like a charm. Mimic a driver pissed he isn’t on watch and you will be fine!

*This doesn’t apply to Mother with cubs or bears in New Jersey/near Philly.

Come on Philly bears are very chill , this guy lives on city line and has only ever asked me if I have a extra dollar and if he could get a lift to Kelly drive 🙂

Go fishing in yoga pants, carry around a yoga mat and tell any bear you see you want to snuggle...

This seems to terrify most baby goats and puppies in my neck of the woods and it sort of shakes me up and I'm not into yoga...

If I live to Christmas, I'll be 77 years old. To the original post: I would have left. Maybe that's how I got to me so old.

As for carrying: I carry in one location where a pit bull left his property and came at me one morning, and his owner had a hard time stopping him and getting him under control. I carry there now, though I am thankful I haven't seen the pit bull since the morning he came at me. But, you never know.

(There's another place where a landowner friend of mine told me a pit bull sometimes gets off his chain and has attacked some of my friend's animals, especially his sheep. Where this is, I couldn't get a gun ready in time if the dog came down from his property quietly. I have given up fishing that nice hour-and-a-half fishing stretch.)

I’d rather be Burt Reynolds. Or Jon Voight than Ned Beatty
Open carry is good. Everyone sees it.
And honestly if someone drives by on a small stream and sees my outfit and the open carry gun, they are likely not fishing anywhere close to me. Opens the stream up.

rrt,
If I had a choice between running into a black bear in Pa and a free-roaming pit bull, I’d take the black bear.
