So, your solution is wreck someplace else so that no money needs to be expended to fix the existing problems. That's an awesome plan! Kick the can down the road and repeat as necessary until everything turns to crap. Then relocate 40 more miles away!

That is exactly the attitude that is turning places into sprawling crapholes all across this State. State College being a prime example. It's not sustainable and it won't be long until State College is just like your examples of Harrisburg and Altoona, unable to maintain its infrastructure. We need to do better!

We have the technology to build these things without impacting the environment, it just costs the companies more money. I think the biggest problem with our country isn't capitalism or technology it's theft. I’m seeing a totally different story. Fishing is way better than when I first started. In the last 15 years I’ve seen hatches appear where they weren’t, streams hold trout that they didn’t used to. We are in the golden age of trout fishing. Example: grannoms on spring, green drakes on the j, hendos everywhere. Just wasn’t that way 15 years ago.

The State of Pennsylvania has been exploited by capitalism since the state was formed. Lumber, Iron, Coal, energy the same thing has happened year after year, the big businesses have the politicians in their pockets and now they are weaseling into media and even how we vote...

Probably the same reason East Branch Clarion needs stocked they released 200 + CFS ALL SPRING AND SUMMER,now we want and need water it's all gone ,bad bad practice,why can't they keep at an even keel instead of up and down so drastic,this will be the flow all freaking summer unfortunately

Amen - there are two data “campus” centers going up in Cumberland County one unopposed and another with a conservation group trying to fight the good fight

I've personally had a couple phone conversations with state senators that are on board to opposing the data centers on the waterfront. They both seemed on board with real conservation as well.

Why do you think traditional tillage is better than no till, regarding trout streams and in general?

In the late 1980s, there were large numbers of grannonms on Spring Creek from Bellefonte to the mouth. From Bellefonte upstream through the canyon, there were very few, but entomologist Greg Hoover found a few.

What??Do you know for a fact that 80 cfs will be the release all summer? I'm very doubtful that is accurate. A few years I found anticipated release schedule on East Branch Clarion River Lake Facebook page but I didn't see such a schedule this year. I looked a few other places and have been unsuccessful. I will try to reach out to somebody that might know and will apologize for doubting you,if you're right.
Current lake level is 1669.98 ft above sea level. Summer pool level is 1670, so its right where it should be. The parking lot at Elk State Park-Instanter Boat Launch was closed and under water mid May and may have been why they were releasing 200+cfs in May. I was at Instanter Saturday and the lake is full.
I'm sure the erratic nature on flows hurts natural reproduction but that's not the only reason why reproduction is not better. Its my understanding that the water coming out of the dam at 130' deep is sterile. I heard Elk County Conservation District gave a presentation this spring on a potential project to increase the fertility.but didn't go and don't know the details.

It definitely has, but of course the PFBC will continue to stock it and allow it to be privately stocked along its entire length all while refusing to survey it because they know they would find a class a population in many areas of the stream. I seriously hope they prove me wrong.

Just read an article (404 Media) about a Texas farmer, who in 1999 donated (nominal fee$10) his farm property of 87 acres to the city, with the condition in the deed that it would be used for community parkland.
Well, in 2025 the land was sold for $10M to a data center developer, who has won several legal battles against nearby residents who are trying to stop the massive construction project. They are planning to take their case to an appeals court. Even with the best intentions, it seems the all mighty dollar almost always wins out.
