So I live on this lake and while I do fish it I have not dedicated time to really enjoy the gift right in front of me. I was walking next to the water the other day and saw a few nice bass chasing after the perch and other pan fish swimming in the shallows. Well me being me, I went home and tied a fly I thought might get em going and guess what, I now have a new passion for bass fishing on a fly. I caught a few on my Sage 5 weight and then tried my 3 weight and caught one on that also, what a rush. I did not know there were smallies in the lake or I would have hit it up sooner.

Gotta tie up a few more bass patterns now : )

Tight Lines !!

Neat report.

Glad you discovered fishing your local lake with FF gear. Have fun whipping up some perch and sunfish patterns - good stuff.

And keep walking the lake and observing it - you will get a feel for other patterns such as when fish are shallow, what types of fishes are in different areas at different times, and what they're feeding on... all of this will figure into your FF approach to your home water.
