Spring is here and the Wiss is finally alive...
Fished from 8am till 1pm around Valley Green Inn up to the falls.
Sun was out and air temps in mid-high 50's, didn't test water temps.
Flows were average and had a slight greenish hue.
Midges coming off and scant BWOs. Fished a double nymph rig czech style and immediately hooked into two rainbows right in front of the Inn, and right in front of two bait guys (which I love doing.)
Hooked another two above the riffle. Moved up to just above the bridge. Normally water I pass by but thought I'd give it a try as it appears I was the first one hitting all the runs today.
Hooked into two nice browns with fat winter bellies, lost two more.
Moved up into the riffle above and nailed 5 browns from a 30ft long run.
Continued to move up to below the next riffle and landed another 4 and lost 2. One was a decent 17ish fat rainbow.
Moved up to the falls and again landed 2 browns.
Worked my way back down stripping a slump buster and landed another two more. Saw a splashy rise and threw on a RS2 emerger and nailed it, first non-nymph/streamer trout I've caught on the Wiss.
A GREAT spring day with feisty fish now moving into the faster water. Good to see the browns getting more active.
