.
I spent Saturday evening between 5:30 and 8:30 wet wading a few stretches of Wissahickon Creek below the Valley Green Inn.
A few whipped cream cumulus clouds passed by in the blue sky. Air temps were perfectly comfortable to the skin; there was a light breeze; water temps were in the mid 70's.
I caught and released seven plump redbreast sunfish and two smallmouth bass, one of which jumped and danced above the creek three times! I engaged just one trout, a brown, which shook me after a stalemate stand off.
The fish were rising to very small (size 18-20) dark flies (midges?). My size 12 Grey Wool Pheasant Tail nymph, size 12 Easy and Orange wet, and a size 10 Mickey Finn did the job, though.
