I spent the day between 12 noon to 7 p.m. along Wissahickon Creek. Weather was partly cloudy with mild breezes and temps in the 60s.

I heard a deep splash sound just as I finished rigging up. I assumed someone had just let their dog off the leash to frolick in the stream. When I turned to the water, I was shocked to see a very large hawk holding a trout in its talons. The bird flew upstream about twenty yards, and then turned and flew back down, giving me a second eye-level view of its fishing skills.

Amazing!

The day was full of may apples and Baltimore orioles. No hatch (or fish) activity until 5 p.m. Then, within a thirty-minute span, a hatch and all the action took place. Three redbreast sunfish and one very fine 15-inch rainbow trout that jumped three times. The winning fly was a Pheasant and Orange wet, although the hatch, to my eyes, most resembled a Red Quill, size 16.

Nice report

I live in PHILA

don't give the Wissy much of a chance.

I may have to change my outlook on the stream.
