Winter is on the way

On a lighter note: hurricane season is over!!!!! We had 0 storms this year.!!!! GG
Winter suck so does snow.
 
We just got our 1st winter storm watch issued of the season for Fri-Sat; on the heels of this cold blast.

Its times like this I feel like the grasshopper in the story of the 'grasshopper and the ant', as reality sets in that all my hobby farm projects/chores that I wanted to accomplish this year are not quite done yet. Did I really need to fish all those days in September and October? LOL

Its not as fun putting chains on your tractor, and fitting the snowthrower on in a cold, unheated, barn as the snow piles up, when you could have done it on a nice 50° day a month ago. Maybe someday I will learn. LOL

Dear CinnamonJoe,

That's an easy problem to solve. Just get another tractor dedicated to the snowblower. That's what my buddy did after tiring of swapping attachments on his tractor each season. Thirty years ago, a bunch of us would gather at the property which was originally his family's farm but became a recreational property. We made short work of switching out implements each Spring and Fall but as everyone got older that got to be less fun.

Now with the exception of a more modern Kubota compact tractor with a mower, loader, and backhoe all of his John Deere's are dedicated to pretty much one job. He has JD tractors from the 1920's to the 1970's from 8 to 50+ horsepower. His family owned a John Deere Ag dealership in his hometown for many years, so they always brought project tractors out to the farm to fix up and use again. Their main shed is like a museum!

Boy I hope we get some decent snow and cold this winter. I’d like it to pile up early and stick around till spring. Thinking ice fishing and a slow seep into streams to get water levels up. Hope everyone has a good thanksgiving.

I know, I know. Its not PA. But if this verifies over the weekend, we're in for a wild ride out here. Good thing I have the day off tomorrow. I'll be getting Ms. Massey Ferguson all tricked out for modeling the latest winter fashions for arctic operations (chains, snow thrower, weights)

It's November. As far as I'm concerned, the snow is late. And I'm not even a fan of it.

Well, put heat in the barn....and a bench, fly tying vise, spirits. Forget the chores, wait winter out.
