Summary
The fishing in the Willowemoc was off for the second straight year. On the first evening there, we saw 3 rises and I caught 1 trout blind casting. We left it for another stream.
On Tuesday morning I had a great time on the Willowemoc (20 fish). The trout were super active. It was one of those great days. I went back twice after that and caught 2 one day and zero the other.
Not sure why this would have happened. Must have been a water temp issue a few weeks before

Weather Conditions: Sunny, 63 degrees
Water Conditions: Clear, 102 cfs, 63 degrees
Insects: None
We fished one of the better holes in the Willowemoc but it was pretty dead. A husband and wife was there when we arrived so we fished upstream. There was no insect activity but I was able to bring up a few fish. On the way upstream I fished a caddis and missed a trout. On the way back downstream I changed to a BWO and caught a brown.
After fishing, I spoke to the gentleman and he had 4 strikes on the Comparadun and he landed one.
June 16 Morning

Time Fished: 930am - 100pm
Weather Conditions: Sunny, 65 degrees increasing to 71
Water Conditions: Clear, 49 cfs, 65 degrees
Insects: I didn’t capture any. There were several different insects in low numbers this morning, “just hanging around”. They appeared to be a mixture of spinners and hatching insects. Most were yellow.
There were a lot of fish in this hole but size was not ideal. The browns were 6”-7” while the brookies were about 9”-10”. I started out with a #16 BWO and caught about 5-6. They weren’t picky. The size of the trout encouraged me to seek a smaller fly.
I switched to a sz 18 Caddis with a tan body. That was a better option. By this time the water had warmed a bit and more fish were showing up. The middle 2 hours were most productive. As the day warmed, by just a few degrees, there was a bit of an uptick of rising trout again. So more trout were caught.
The last 30 minutes were uneventful so I packed it in and went to lunch. I caught 12 browns and 8 brookies.
June 17. Mid-Day

Weather Conditions: Sunny, 64 degrees
Water Conditions: Clear, 41 cfs, 65 degrees
Insects: some paraleptophlebia
I fished this same hole yesterday morning and it was on fire. Every fish was feeding. It was sharks in the water. Today the Willowemoc was a stubborn friend. Yesterday the trout gods blessed our day and the fish took the fly even on bad casts. Today in an hour I was fortunate to have exactly 2 strikes and landed both (Brown & a brook).
June 18. Mid-Day

Weather Conditions: Cloudy, a few short showers, 70 degrees
Water Conditions: Clear, 41 cfs, 66 degrees
Insects: a few insects
This location has completely dried up. After yielding 20 trout on Tuesday, it’s a total reversal. Zero fish caught today. I’m assuming the lack of water volume have the trout in hiding or other folks fished the hole before I did.
