Insects: March Browns, Caddis, Sulphurs midges,
After a 5 hour ride we were ready to fish. We hustled to our favorite spot and no one was there. I started working up the best riffle with a dry fly hitting all the likely locations but I didn’t bring up one trout. This is highly unusual. I changed flies and repeated a few times. Still no rises.
A gentleman showed up and he went in below us. He casted to the fish in the lower end of the pool in the very slow water. None of us had a strike. After about an hour we packed up and went our separate ways.
My buddy and I drove upstream and this next location had rising fish. I got to the hole first and saw 4-5 rises, but I could not get any to take my fly. I turned the hole over to my buddy and I began looking for new trout. I caught a nice brown above him and that was the only rise I saw. I decided to head downstream and I got into some trout there. It was a decent pod of trout of varying sizes.
I had some takers but it took some time to dial in the right fly (speckled midge tied with the appropriate amount of feather). Once I found it I got about 10 in the next hour. After the big push it was back to slugging it out again. Most of these fish were midging.
We decided to head back to the hole we started in (a few miles away) just to see if anything began to rise. No one was there and I checked it myself for about 20 minutes. Only saw maybe 20 rises but I did catch 2 nice trout. I ended up with 19 browns for the evening. Not many people fishing tonight (maybe due to the rain).

Insects: March brown, tan caddis, midges
The morning was not very productive at the start. I fished up a long riffle then hit a few holes. The riffle was a bust (it had been productive in the past). The next hole was a really good in the past but only 5 trout showed themselves. I caught 2 (brookie & brown). The next hole upstream looks like Tarzan but fishes like Jane. I think in my lifetime, I’ve only caught one fish there.
After the disappointing start, I decided to head downstream. I settled in amongst the risers who were midging with some vigor. It took a few fly changes to find a sz 18 Tan Caddis was what they were feeding on.
I got 15 Browns and 2 Brook.

Insects: March brown, tan caddis, midges, paraleptaphibia,sulphurs
I started in a hole that I had fished yesterday afternoon. It’s one of my favorite holes. Unfortunately, it did not fish well yesterday, but today there was some activity when I arrived.
There were 3 “mid teen” browns that had setup and were feeding occasionally. I setup on each fish individually and worked them until I caught them. Before leaving I hit other runs and got 1 more brown.
I went to a riffle downstream that had decent numbers of trout. The fact this location was holding trout was the result of heavy spring flow that carved out a new lane. I caught a couple here and one was a brookie. After about 25 minutes, I worked my way to a location that a decent number of fish that were midging.
Out of the gate, I caught a few very quickly but it got a lot harder. I changed flies again and again, picking up one here and there. Darkness was approaching and I had focused on picking up the midging trout instead of picking up the bigger trout. I put on a March Brown dry and I quickly caught 2 nice fish. Then next cast I broke off the fly off, ending my night.
I got 16 browns and 1 brook trout.

Water Conditions: 59 degrees, Murky, Bank to Bank
Insects: None
I made a quick streamer pass since the water level was up. This location is typically very good when it has murky conditions, but for some reason this hole is not holding fish. Today I had only on strike and a miss. Caught none.
I was very surprised this location did not produce more trout as it had in previous years.
