Wiconisco Creek, Dauphin County, 10/24/2011

Not your typical fly fishing creek per se, but a good time anyway. I've fished this creek all of my life. This years floods have changed this creek to the point that I didn't recognize it. Complete change. Good time though anyway. Fished 2 or so hours and had a good time just being outdoors.

I use to fish the whisky a good bit, my Son always liked fishing the stream, he always caught fish there. Haven't been up that way in a long time, been wanting to get up there but for some reason or another never make it.

Years back I caught the two biggest trout, I ever caught there. A 25 inch RB and a 24 inch Brown, stocked of course one week, apart.

Did you fish the reg waters?

There is so many good places on the whisky to fish but I met my father at the Ned Smith center and schooled him for the day. I've also caught my biggest fish to date on it.

I grew up 200 yard from the "black crick" myself, albeit 15 or so miles up from the NSC. I really should get back up there sometime soon. There are some stretches that have some serious hatches for a stocked freestoner. Paul, you are officially on notice. First 50 degree day in March we are so there. NOM and Goro, feel free to join us if you'd like. Paul and I have been trying to coordinate this for about three years, so I'm picking a "date" now and hopefully nature and my job will cooperate this year.
