Fished Wiconisco Creek near Millersburg today with my Tenkara Fly Rod.

Caught 1 nice Rainbow - no pic he got away from me before I got the camera ready. Stream was a bit fast and hazy. Used a grey/brown tenkara fly(looks a bit like and Adams)

A few casts later I caught a nice bass - he put up a nice little fight on my Yamame Tenkara Rod and the same fly.

Had a couple of other hits but no hookups - need to get out a bit more with the rod.

Thanks for the report! I've yet to fish this stream but it's on my list of places to check out this year. It is common to catch both bass and trout in the stream?

I have been fishing this creek for about 7 years and this was the first bass that I caught on it. We were about 7 miles from the junction of the Susqehanna. I guess it would be possible for them to come up the creek but Iwould not have expected it this far up the creek.

As long as it does not wreck the trout fishing, I would not have a problem catching both.

I grew up on the banks of this creek and you can find smallies all the way up to Tower City, in fact, they came back before the trout did, from my experience. 30 years ago we would not be having this discussion, as it was relatively dead in its upper stretches and has slowly come back to life over the last few decades. Shep, if you don't mind my asking, what road did you access from?

We came in from the Mllersburg side on 209. Hit the power Lines
Below the NEd Smith Center - nothing happening there.

Went up 209 towards E-ville - got off on Shiffer Mill rd to the creek - some very nice waters both above and below the bridge.

We headed up from the bidge because there is a beaver family that I know inhabits one of the offshoots of the creek and will sometimes just find a seat over looking that and watch them play.

Did not see them on Sunday though. If anybody else fishes this piece have you seen the beavers this year?

Always good to hear about success on a Tenkara Rod. Have not caught any bass on it yet, but plenty of trout.

Wiconisco Creek, does it support any wild populaltion of trout?

Not sure about the wild part, I guess it's possible, since there are quite a few little feeder streams. I ahven['t explored this creek as much as I would like to.
I have caught a few holdovers though throughout the year. There is a DHALO section between the Ned Smith Center and a power line about 1 mile down.

Maybe someone else could answer the wild trout question.

My primary objective this year is to use my Tenkara rod as much as possible.

Not that I know of, but Rattling Creek is a brookie factory, so they could swim down.

Saw some dark almost black stoneflies on some branches but no risers or swirls. Was hoping for some risers but no luck.

Going to go again tomorrow. I will give an additional report.

Isle of Q road.

We fished the Isle of Q area on Saturday - got 1 brown then we moved up to an area off of Stence Road caught an other brown. What was a bit muddy from the downpours the night before.

Would like to get out this week - they are being stocked on the 20th. But I promised by better half I would take her to Reading on Saturday for some Italian food at Buca Di Beppo! Great food.

The Wic does get very muddy. I hardly ever see any people fishing that after the first few weeks.

I caught my largest trout 3 years ago in May it was a 22 inch brown. Caught on the isle of q road section.

Did see a bunch of snakes that day though.
