Hello friends, I fished the Fly Fishing Only stretch of the white clay creek in DE just north of Thompsons Bridge and had marked success concidering the winter conditions. It was drizling when I fished and rained earlier in the morning but the water was crystal clear and cold about thirty eight if I remember correctly. I caught three rainbow and two golden rainbow or palomino depending on what you call them. all around twelve inch's and the colors were beautiful. I started around 1pm and endid about four. it was my first successful winter fishing and I was extatic. I took a sample of the aquatic insects earlier in the week and only found some small green larvae with black heads so thats what I used. I dont have a name for the pattern but I used a fine black wire for a rib and some olive silk for the body and black thread for the head. I put a small v tail of black small holographic and after some clear cure uv resin for the top half of the fly I used a razor blade to cut between the black wire rib and brushed out the silk to look like gills. it must of been a good impression because the palomino's always give me a hard time and I caught two!
