White Clay Creek DHALO, Chester Co. 3/22/2015

Fish the middle branch of the White Clay on Sunday from about 9AM to 2:30PM. Was my first time fishing the water and had an excellent day thanks to SNJChef showing me around a bit. Saw some light surface action but all my activity was on beadheads like frenchies and midges. Landed about 10-12 fish and missed a bunch most caught around the confluence of the east branch and middle. Fish were still in the deep pools and don't seem to be in the riffles just yet. Not much surface activity but a saw a few small black stones and some BWO's here and there with no fish rising to them. Ended my day with some crazy woman getting into the pool I was fishing in her underwear. Was just glad I didn't have to go in and get her out.

Unfortunately I did not. She said she was going to "skinny dip" but left her bra and underwear on. Her friend she was with chickened out.

Stop at the state park office and get a map. And maybe check the map online before you go.

The state park map shows things very clearly.

I usually enter at the Goodhope bridge or the London track bridge. I wish I got out more than I do and since I live on Goodhope road less than 2 miles from the creek I really have no excuse. :lol:

Ha! Same thing here- live 3 minutes always and usually drive 2-3 hours to fish. I really should try White Clay.

I was out yesterday for couple of hours in the afternoon down in the Approved waters bellow the DHALO section only saw 2 trout. Was very surprised at that since the season just opened on Saturday. I talked to probably 15 other fishers and most of them saw nothing and I saw no one who had caught a fish. I don't know whats up. I'm sure they are all spooked but I though I would have at least seen something. BrookTroutLover Where do you usually fish?

I went to the W. branch of the Brandywine today. Skunked, but it sure was a pretty day! Normally, I head to the Poconos or Centre County.

I took my son to the DH section on Sunday. Not many fisherman in there. Saw very few fish. There were some in the usual pools but not nearly as many as there were back in December or same time last year. I caught one and he got skunked. Felt bad as there is usually some decent fishing. Maybe the poachers are back at it?

I first fished the DHAOL section of White Clay about 25 or so years ago. Like a lot of other special regs sections in the Southeast it is a pale shadow of what it used to be due to sedimentation, development, reduction of the water table due to wells etc. The FFO of French Creek has certainly suffered the same fate. That said, I still enjoy fishing both those streams, but don't bother with the regs. areas. Yes, you sometimes have to deal with a few more idiots, but after the stocking slows down there are still plenty of fish to be had, especially if you fish the water thoroughly. Just my opinion....
