Met a DE friend around 10 at the lower Preserve. He needed some remedial nymphing 101 and got it. I took a small rainbow on my first demo drift, which set the tone for the day. We fished our way down, and I put him in a good hole with decent current leading in. He hooked up nicely on a 14'' rainbow which turned out to be the biggest fish we caught. He was overjoyed and it turned out it was the first trout he landed this season. Made me feel great since I set up his hole rig, tippet, flies the works. He ended up hooking four and landing two, with a couple misses. The temp at around 2pm was a crisp 58, water was dead clear and low for this time of year. Primary bugs were Tan Caddis, and some BWO's. Anyway, he left after late lunch at the Landenburg Store. I went back and fished almost to DE before losing both my flies and calling it a day around 5:30 or so. Best flies were the usual: Tan BH caddis and black ant, fished down. I moved a couple dozen fish and brought to hand over half; mostly rainbows, though there were two brook rtout in the mix. One of them might have passed for a native (about 6-7") but I suspect a local club stocking. First time I ever fished any of those spots and just a beautiful day to be out. There were some good hikes in between the prime holding water, but that just made it more interesting.
